Das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen geometrischen und organischen Formen spielt schon seit Mitte der 1960er Jahre eine wichtige Rolle im Werk Fritz Koenigs. Auch die “Kleine Zwei XXIII” weckt Assoziationen an Körperformen, an Arme, die greifen, an eine Figur, die um ihr Gleichgewicht ringt. Wie viele Werke aus dieser Zeit hat auch dieses keine Hauptansicht, sondern enthüllt von jeder Seite einen anderen formalen Reiz: Mal ist es die prekäre Balance, mal die leichte Abweichung von der Symmetrie, die die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich lenkt. Die Maße weichen leicht von den im Werkverzeichnis angegebenen ab, da Koenig später die Sockelung änderte und die dünne Bodenplatte hinzufügte (freundlicher Hinweis von Dr. Dietrich Clarenbach). – In sehr guter Erhaltung.
