Wiegmanns Skizzenbuchblatt zeigt eines der bis heute beliebtesten Motiv der pompejianischen Ausgrabungsstätten: Die antiken Ruinen im Vordergrund, im Hintergrund die imposante Silhouette des oft wolkenverhangenen Vesuvs. – Im Randbereich etwas fleckig; der Bleistift teils schwach verwischt, verso und am Unterrand mit der Künstlerzuschreibung von fremder Hand. – Schwach stockfleckig und mit altersbedingten Gebrauchspuren.
Provenienz: Verso mit drei nicht identifizierten Sammlungsstempeln (Lugt 3549; Lugt 3551; nicht bei Lugt).
