In seinen letzten Lebensjahren setzte sich Wesselmann noch einmal mit Matisse auseinander – ein Maler, den er zeitlebens verehrte, dessen Einfluss er sich aber auch lange widersetzt hatte, um eine eigene Formensprache zu entwickeln. Nun jedoch, in den “Sunset Nudes”, räkeln sich seine Akte in ähnlich verschwenderisch ausgestatteten Interieurs wie die Odalisken des Franzosen. – In einwandfreier Erhaltung und Farbfrische.
