Stimmungsvolle Ansichten, denen der Künstler durch die zarte, lasierende Malweise ein besonders schönes Licht verleiht. Auf einer alten Spielkarte wohl in der Entstehungszeit bezeichet “Tanner J. Jacob von Herisau – die Stadt Castell’ à mare im K. Neapel” sowie nummeriert “165.b”. Tanner stellte 1832 und 1835 in St. Gallen italienische Ansichten aus.
