Cella Thoma geb. Berteneder entstammte einer Bauernfamilie und wurde von ihrem späteren Ehemann Hans Thoma in der Malerei unterrichtet. 1877 heiratete das Paar und bezog eine gemeinsame Wohnung in Frankfurt. Das Stillleben zeigt die drei unterschiedlichen Obstsorten, in einem geflochtenen Korb bzw. auf einem bläulichem Tuch arrangiert, vor einem dunklen Hintergrund. Das Werk ist ein charakteristisches Beispiel für das Oeuvre der jung verstorben Künstlerin. – Verso auf dem Keilrahmen mit altem Ausstellungsetikett.
