Das reizvolle Bildnis, das die Kenntnis ähnlicher Porträts Anton Graffs und seines Kreises verrät, stellt den am 29. August 1790 in Leipzig geborenen Friedrich August Magnus dar, über dessen Lebensumstände nichts bekannt ist. Er starb am 11. Juni 1848 in seiner Geburtsstadt.
