Description
Die Zeichnung gibt den rechten Mittelgrund des 1790 datierten, in Caserta hängenden Gemäldes mit dem Hafen von Gallipoli wieder. Die Reise entlang der apulischen Küste führte Hackert von Monopoli nach Brindsdi und Otranto, die am Absatz des italienischen Stiefels gelegen sind. Von dort aus wandte er sich nach Gallipoli. Hackert zeigt einen Blick auf das alte Hafenbecken, den sogenannten Seno del Canneto. Obwohl Gallipoli einen lebendigen Ölhandel betrieb, besaß es keinen befestigten Hafen. Eine natürliche Bucht diente als solcher, deren unsichere Ausfahrt für die Handelsschiffe gefährlich war. – Aufgrund von Papiermängeln ganzseitig aufgelegt. Vereinzelt leicht fleckig, ansonsten gut erhalten.
