Description
Vorzeichnung zum gleichnamigen Kupferstich aus der Folge “Tragedies of Aeschylus” (Die Schutzflehenden, Tf. 7). Die Töchter des Danaos, die vor den Söhnen des Aigyptos geflohen sind, knien vor den Standbildern der Götter und flehen um den Beistand des Zeus. Deutliche Unterschiede beim Figurenpersonal lassen den Entwurfsprozess nachvollziehen. – Verso im oberen Rand mit Montierungsresten. In guter Erhaltung.
