Description

Preliminary study for the figures painted in grisaille in the lower right spandrel of the ceiling fresco “Triumph of Clementia” in the Palazzo Altieri in Rome (1674). The collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (inv. no. 65.206) houses a study in black chalk of two further figures in grisaille of this fresco frame. – Some minor foxmarks. Inconspicuous handling dents along the margins, slight handling traces. In good condition considering its age.
