The first Oriental Head

Details

Bartsch 286; White/Boon 286 II (from II); Hinterding/Rutgers (The New Hollstein) 149 II (from V).

Description

Excellent early print of the II State, with the added landscape in the background on the right – the only copy of the I State is housed in London. With a narrow paper margin around the edge of the plate, cut to the same length on the upper edge. Early prints are rare and marked “R+” by Nowell-Usticke. – With some small, isolated foxmarks, mainly on the reverse and with remnants of earlier mounting. Unobtrusive annotations on the reverse, otherwise a very fine impression.
