Etching and drypoint on laid paper with watermark “foolscap with seven-pointed collar” (cf. Erik Hinterding. Rembrandt as an etcher. Catalogue of watermarks (words), vol. II, p. 310 “variant K.a. (NGA) 2°”. (Around 1639). 14 x 11.4 cm (sheet size).

Description

Very fine, detailed early print, the sketchy background on the left printed sharper, before the revisions by Georg Friedrich Schmidt. With a fine margin around the partly inked edge of the plate. – A small, carefully closed tear in the upper right margin. In good condition.
