Bernar Venet

“Random Combination of Indeterminate Lines”

Details

Published by World House Editions, Middlebury/Connecticut and Pied Art Club, London.

Description

Bernar Venet’s work is extremely diverse; in the 1960s he initially created amorphous installations using loose materials and was one of the leading representatives of conceptual art. A short time later, inspired by the works of minimalist sculptors such as Donald Judd, Dan Flavin and Carl Andre, Venet began creating steel sculptures. These distinctive works can now be found in museums and public spaces around the world. Line has been the dominant theme in Venet’s work since the 1980s. The present series of prints on the theme of the random combination of indeterminate lines as the graphic representation of mathematical information embodies Venet’s primary artistic concerns.
