Description

In Damien Hirst’s Empresses series, each print features a unique pattern of red and black butterfly wings. This pattern follows on from his famous kaleidoscope painting series from the early 2000s. Not only are the prints a playful nod to monarch butterflies, but they also honour five important empresses from history: Wu Zetian, Theodora, Nūr Jahān, Suiko and Taytu Betul.
