Provenienz:
Privatbesitz, Süddeutschland.

Description

There is a similar chalk drawing of an adorant in the Louvre, Paris (cf. inv. no. 15 897). Fitted into a mask of laid paper along the edges of the sheet. – The lower right corner trimmed round. Isolated faint stains, more in the lower right margin. Paper also thinned in places there, with a tiny closed tear. In good condition for its age.

The attribution to Crecolini was confirmed by Dieter Graf, Fototeca, Bibliotheca Hertziana, Rome, after consultation with Catherine Legrand (Loisel), Cabinet des Dessins du Musée du Louvre, Paris, in a letter dated 27 May 1991 (present in the original).
